NVIDIA Introduces Agent Toolkit to Boost Enterprise AI Safety

During the GTC 2026 conference held in San Jose on March 16, NVIDIA revealed its latest innovation: the NVIDIA Agent Toolkit. This open-source software stack is designed to address a critical challenge faced by enterprises—how to implement AI agents that operate autonomously without compromising data security or increasing liability risks.

Addressing Trust and Control Challenges

Enterprises have shown significant interest in AI agents capable of performing tasks autonomously within their systems. However, concerns about trust and the ability to enforce strict security and privacy measures have slowed widespread adoption. NVIDIA’s solution centers around providing robust guardrails to ensure responsible AI behavior at scale.

OpenShell: The Core of Security Enforcement

The centerpiece of the new toolkit is NVIDIA OpenShell, an open-source runtime environment that enforces policy-driven security and privacy controls for autonomous agents. NVIDIA refers to individual AI agents as “claws,” and OpenShell functions as the mechanism that governs their actions, ensuring compliance with enterprise policies.

Jensen Huang, NVIDIA’s CEO, emphasized the importance of this development at GTC, stating, “Claude Code and OpenClaw have sparked the agent inflection point — extending AI beyond generation and reasoning into action. Employees will be supercharged by teams of frontier and custom-built agents they deploy and manage.” This highlights NVIDIA’s vision of AI agents as powerful collaborators in the workplace.

Strategic Partnerships for Enhanced Security Integration

NVIDIA is collaborating with major industry players including Cisco, CrowdStrike, Google, Microsoft Security, and TrendAI to integrate OpenShell compatibility into their security products. This strategic alignment aims to provide enterprises with seamless and trustworthy AI agent management embedded within existing security infrastructures.

Cost-Efficient AI Research with NVIDIA AI-Q

Complementing OpenShell, the toolkit includes NVIDIA AI-Q, a hybrid agentic search system developed with LangChain. AI-Q employs frontier models for orchestration and NVIDIA’s open Nemotron models for intensive research tasks. This architecture reportedly reduces query expenses by over 50% while maintaining top-tier accuracy benchmarks, addressing enterprise concerns about unpredictable consumption-based AI pricing.

Wide Industry Adoption and Use Cases

The NVIDIA Agent Toolkit has garnered support from a diverse group of prominent companies such as Adobe, Atlassian, SAP, Salesforce, ServiceNow, Siemens, and more. Salesforce is developing a reference architecture that uses Slack as an orchestration layer for its Agentforce agents, leveraging both on-premises and cloud data through NVIDIA’s infrastructure.

Atlassian integrates the toolkit into its Rovo AI strategy within Jira and Confluence, while ServiceNow builds its “Autonomous Workforce of AI Specialists” atop the toolkit using NVIDIA AI-Q. Siemens utilizes the Fuse EDA AI Agent to autonomously manage workflows across its electronic design automation portfolio, powered by Nemotron models.

Furthermore, IQVIA has deployed over 150 AI agents internally and for clients, including 19 of the top 20 pharmaceutical companies, demonstrating real-world scalability and effectiveness.

NVIDIA’s Vision for the Future of AI in Enterprises

NVIDIA aims to establish itself as the foundational software infrastructure for enterprise AI agent deployment. Through components like the Agent Toolkit, OpenShell, Nemotron models, and AI-Q, the company offers a cohesive stack intended to underpin enterprise software ecosystems.

The toolkit is currently available via build.nvidia.com and supports deployment across major cloud platforms including AWS, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure, and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.
